David's Books
David Nolan writes books about three things: music, truth, and murder. Not necessarily in that order. He's written music biographies covering everyone from the Sex Pistols to Simon Cowell. I Swear I Was There, his book about the famous Pistols' gig at Manchester's Lesser Free Trade Hall in 1976 - was described as 'one of the greatest rock stories ever told' by GQ magazine. Not bad for a night out in Manchester.
He's also written biographies of Tony Wilson, Bernard Sumner, Damon Albarn and Ed Sheeran.
Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil investigated decades of abuse at St Ambrose College in south Manchester, leading to both a TV documentary for ITV Granada and a Radio 4 documentary, The Abuse Trial, which won both UK and international journalism awards.
Most recently, David has ventured into crime fiction with his acclaimed 'Manc Noir' series of books. Dubbed 'The King of Manc Noir' by the Altrincham Word Festival, his trilogy of books - Black Moss, The Mermaid's Pool and The Ballad of Hanging Lees - was recently published as an anthology called Rain Falls Hard. The Manc Noir books are now being developed into a drama series by Free@Last TV, the production team behind Agatha Raisin.
Whether you're looking for music history, investigative journalism or gritty Manchester crime fiction, David's complete works are available through Amazon or Fahrenheit Press.
