Radio - From Rock History to Historic Abuse

One Night in Manchester

David acted as consultant on the BBC Radio 2 documentary One Night in Manchester about the famed Sex Pistols gig at the Lesser Free Trade Hall in 1976. He also took part in the programme as a contributor, along with punk legend Jordan, Joy Division and New Order’s Peter Hook and audience member and Manchester music stalwart Ian Moss. See the video above to find out why the gig is so important.

They Swear They Were There

David also provided his punk rock expertise for BBC 6 Music on the most taxing question in music history: who was REALLY in the audience to see the Sex Pistols play in Manchester in 1976? Find out the truth here!

The Abuse Trial

After more than 20 years working in TV, David returned to radio to present The Abuse Trial for BBC Radio Four. The documentary – about the trial of David’s ex-teacher Alan Morris for historical abuse crimes – was produced by Jo Meek for PRA Productions.

‘Chilling…’ The Observer

‘A harrowing listen…’ The Guardian

‘A painstaking, soul-searching account…’ The Telegraph

‘This was an important programme, and not just because it showed that justice, and a catharsis of sorts, can be achieved even 30 years later. It showed exactly what awaits victims when they decide to make a complaint, and how a positive outcome can allow them to leave the past behind and face life with fresh optimism.’ The Independent

The reviews speak for themselves, especially this one by Fiona Sturges in The Independent:
